Calling All Nurses And Student Nurses

With the idea of spreading the cosy for Student Nurse essentials, I've been looking around for the perfect shoes! I have no clue what I'm looking for other than that they must be black, cannot be open toed and should be as comfortable as possible. I would REALLY appreciate it if someone out there could point me in the right direction with this as like I say I have no clue haha!

Also, is it necessary for me to buy a fob watch? And which other bits and bobs will I be needing? I know I should wait until I start to find out but money wise that just isn't an option as I won't be able to afford to pull the money out all at once for everything that I'll be needing. Hope someone can help!

  1. Hi.

I suggest you try to find a local Clark's Outlet shop. I managed to scoop a pair of very comfy shoes worth £50 for £30 and they make 13 hours on your feet a much better experience. I would also recommend getting a fob watch as you'll need it for counting resps and pulse when taking vital observations on placement. I picked one up for £1 on eBay with free P&P. Bargains galore :) I have a post on my blog where I list the things that I got (http://thestudentnurseconverse.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/i-start-uni-this-month-my-nursey.html). By no means will you need all that I got - I realise in hind sight that I went a little too far, ha! Your library will have plenty of books and if you sign up to a union you'll likely get a free dictionary and possibly a free fob watch for that matter. If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message :) Best of luck with your course. Xx

    1. Hello :)
Thank you!! A couple of people have told me that fob watches come in handy so think I'll definitely invest in one of those, eBay seems like the best way to go for them. Going to have a look in the town center near me for shoes I'll have a look in Clark's and see what I can find :) Is there a specific union you would recommend signing up with by the way? I've no even thought about that ... Thanks everything you've said will help me a lot. And thanks too for taking the time to read my blog!
      Xx

  2. Erm...I signed up to Unison on my first day at Uni partly because of the free gifts, haha! I've also been with Unison in different jobs in the past and have only ever had positive experiences with them. Maybe do a bit of research on what you want from a union first. Your blog is very interesting - keep it up :) Oh and I too wanted to be a teacher prior to nursing and actually almost qualified before waking up to the fact that I should have pursued nursing all along. Sometimes things don't come to you straight away but when they do you truly know it :) xx
