I've set up this blog to act not only as an outlet for what will probably be my own very highly strung emotions on my journey through training for the one thing that I want to spend the rest of my life doing but also to hopefully help out other future nursing students by giving them an idea of what life is like as a student nurse, from someone going through it. I haven't yet started my course so any posts before January will be me talking about not only how excited I am but about the things I'm doing to prepare ... There will no doubt be several posts about the dreaded NHS bursary application!!
I hope there is someone out there who finds some entertainment, interest or help in my blog. I've been reading many a nursing blog recently in the run up to my course starting next year and I've had laughs, shocks and most of all I've gained an amazing insight into what life is really like as a student nurse, with all the highs, the lows, and the in between moments. Please feel free to leave comments and things on here whenever you like I'd love to hear some feedback from anyone reading this!
I'll be back soon, watch this space ...

You are well ahead of the game - kudos.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the degree.
For prep I would recommend Stella Cottrell - The Study Skills Handbook by Palgrave McMillian. It gives tips and hints on good study techniques BEFORE, during and after university.
Use your time to prepare now. Lots of reflective exercises in there to get you thinking like a nurse.
All the best,
Kerry
Hi Kerry :) Thank you very much for taking the time to read my first post and thanks again for recommending that book. I'll definitely be taking a look at it! Yeah that's exactly my plan to get myself into the right frame of mind before I start as I know it's going to be totally different to what I'm used to. Very excited to get stuck in!
